Production Reflection

Throughout the term the production task went quite well, though there were a lot of issues. One of the issues was Maddie not doing much work whilst filming and in one lesson not even showing up to work with the group. Other issues included group members not co-operating and so forth. We also had issues with shaky footage and unusable footage. This means we'll have to re-film a lot of the footage during the last two weeks of term so we have more footage for the individual edits. The planning went well and the filming was pretty good. The editing went well and everyone did what they were supposed to so I am happy with how that went. Overall the project went well and I am looking forward to doing my individual edit of the film.

Editing

I'm really happy with how the film has turned out. We split the scenes up so each of us had a scene to edit. I got scenes 1& 2. Sasha got 3, 4, 5 and helped with 6 as her scenes were short. Maddie got 6 & 7 and Millie got 8 & 9 but helped with both of my scenes as hers were short. She helped polish them up and the order of some of them had to be changed so they would make sense. I think the split was fair though it was difficult to be very fair as our scenes were hard to split up. I hope everyone is happy with what they did.
The film has come together well, though it should have been a bit longer, though we do not have enough footage to make it any longer, so we will have to film a bit more during the final to weeks of term so we can successfully make our independent edits.
All that is left to do before the film is due on Friday is a couple of voice overs from Millie to add over the top of the film. The rough edit's sound is a bit odd/off but that will be fixed in our independent edits as we do not have enough time to fix it completely.

Plan For Next Lesson

Here is my plan for next lesson. My goal is to get it all done next lesson. But if that doesn't happen, then I plan to get it all done the lesson after, so we can spend the other lesson of the week editing, as it's due on Friday. Or if we don't get it all done tomorrow then hopefully my group will agree to go into lunch a bit, so we can get it all done. Time is running out very quickly.

COMMON ROOM
·         First flashback scene

OFFICE
·         Door opening from inside

NETBALL COURTS
·         Victoria walking

 LOCATION
·         Victoria working

HALLWAY
·         Victoria walking – FOLLOWING HEELS.
·         Victoria walking – last shots

Millie: It all started late one night. It was a busy night at the bar. I’d just finished my shift at work and the bar had just closed when I heard a shot. It was so loud. I ran towards the sound, into my boss’s office but all I saw was his body. And the safe was emptied. The shooter got away. Please. You’ve got to help me.

Progress - Filming

I am pretty happy with how our movie is going, though I do have some concerns. We are definitely going to have to organise an after school filming session sometime next week or we are not going to get our film completed. We have done about half of the filming and the rest shouldn't take too long, though only class time won't be enough. I am also a bit concerned with how my group is working together. Two lessons ago, Maddie didn't show up once we began filming, though she was at school and in class. this did not help with our time management or filming at all. There was also a slight problem in that lesson with the focus of Millie. She wouldn't follow some directions but she has worked on that and is now co-operating very well with us. I also feel that Maddie has stepped up a bit since last lesson. Once we started shooting scenes that she was in, I think she felt more comfortable in what she was doing and she seemed a lot more focused.
I'm very happy with how Sasha and I are working together. We have a very similar thought process and she is also very organised which has helped our group a lot. Each lesson she comes prepared with everything and I'm extremely happy with how she's working with everyone. Hopefully we will get our filming completed at the start of next week so we can start editing so it is ready for Friday. The lighting is also a bit hard to get right but I think we're starting to get the hang of it.
The shot list is helping a lot. The template is very easy to follow and easy to fill in. We're using it a lot during the filming process and very rarely are straying from it too much. Now and again we add in a few extras shot when we see a good opportunity but otherwise, we are mostly following the shot list. The storyboards are also helping in getting points across but the shot list is much more effective in helping us film.
The process is getting more and more stressful as the due date gets closer, but hopefully everything will turn out well in the end.

Planning Progress

The planning for our movie (Storyboards, shot list, prop list etc.) is going fairly well. We had finished the shot list for the first scene so we went ahead and filmed that, though we do need to re-shoot some of those scenes because we didn't use lighting and using lighting would improve these shots a lot. The storyboards are coming along well but still need to be completed, as with the shot list. We've completed the character profiles, the shot list and the shooting schedule.
Our group is going to have to work very hard in class to get everything done as half of our group cannot shoot at all after school but we will have to organise some days after school anyway with maybe 2 or 3 of us so we can get everything done.
We need to start discussing the lighting we need to use for each scene because if we don't use any lighting the film isn't going to turn out very well.
We also need to start brining in all props for next lesson as that's when we really need to start filming to get the film done!

I'm happy with how our group is working together and solving issues. Hopefully our short film will turn out the way we anticipate and we'll get it done in time.
